Not much to add about the hosting beyond what was mentioned in our previous review.
Theming
After sweating through Comic Chaos, we crossed the road to The Lift’s second venue and found ourselves in the cool embrace of Lock & Rock’s basement. Set in a grungy cellar venue, it felt like stepping into an underground gig, complete with art-covered walls and that intimate music vibe. The theming was simple but fitting. The overarching mission of solving a band member mystery added a nice narrative layer. The video introduction pulled us into the storyline, making the mystery feel more immersive.
Puzzling
The puzzles took us on a fun journey around the bar, cloakroom, and stage, where we encountered instrument-themed puzzles. Fixing guitars, drums, and amps gave the room a flow that was both creative and natural. The variety of puzzles kept us entertained, including riddles, pattern following, and electronics. One puzzle did feel a bit backwards in its logic, but that was minor. We escaped in under 30 minutes, so we would recommend this room to beginner to intermediate players. We enjoyed every moment, though we wished the experience had stretched a little longer.
All in all, Lock & Rock hit the right notes and is a set worth playing. Check them out below:
