Judgement D.A.V.E. – Bewilder Box

An eccentric AI named MASTERNET 9000 (voiced by Red Dwarf’s Norman Lovett) has broken protocol and is attempting to escape. Your team must decide: is this rogue AI a threat to humanity or its unlikely saviour? A sci-fi comedy adventure where you’ll face moral conundrums, misbehaving gadgets, and the distinct possibility of becoming best friends with a sarcastic computer. No programming experience required, sense of humour strongly recommended.

Hosting

Our 100th escape room – what a milestone! Helium “100” balloon in tow, we made our way to our sci‑fi adventure at Bewilder Box Initiative: Judgement D.A.V.E. We were greeted by an enthusiastic and delightfully scatty scientist who briefed us on our mission: stop the rogue AI. Full marks for hosting – the in‑character introduction was brilliant, and the debrief at the end was just as satisfying.

Theming

Thematically the room was giving Sci-fi. The spaces were small but cleverly used, and each area felt distinct from the next. The clue mechanic was the sarcastic star of Bewilder Box’s previous game: the ever‑watchful AI, Dave, judging you from the corner of the room. But the real threat is MASTERNET 9000, whose pleas and logical reasoning follow you throughout the game.
I loved having to make a final decision about whether to shut him down or set him free. Many escape rooms lack a satisfying denouement — but not this one.

Puzzling

The puzzles were fantastic, with not a padlock in sight (not that I mind a padlock). As a team of two, there was a lot to get through, but we were able to split up and tackle a series of clear yet challenging puzzles. A real strength of this game is how the puzzles encourage you to interact with the set in immersive, playful ways – a perfect example of theme and gameplay working seamlessly together.

In summary, Judgement D.A.V.E. delivers great hosting, great theming, great puzzles, and great humour too. A great choice for our 100th room. We’ve done both their rooms now but we would love to explore more of the Bewilder Box universe however and whenever we can! Check them out here:
