Hosting/Theming/Puzzling
After being pleasantly surprised by The Ruby, we then spontaneously booked The Prison, but that ended up being one room we really did want to escape from. The clue system was delayed and when hints arrived, they often didn’t really match what we were asking. Combined with some technical problems, it left us more frustrated than supported. Theming starts strong with players in separate cells, but beyond that, it was hard to tell what was set dressing and what was a puzzle. Writing was faded, and props were unclear. The one highlight was the timed prison guard mechanic: every 15 minutes we had to lock ourselves back in the cells for when the guard did his rounds. The puzzles, though, were often convoluted rather than challenging, including impossibly hidden dominos, a crucially missing playing card, and one unlocked padlock. Ultimately, this was one of the few rooms we’ve ever seriously considered walking out of!
Game Over is a fun little venue, with video games, board games and an escape rooms, so why not check it out if you find yourself in Faro!
